Ruff Bowl: Charlottean invents clip-on travel water bowl for dogs, needs help on Kickstarter

Posted on 27 Jan 2011 by Justin Ruckman

Sammy Lopez’s Ruff Bowl is a simple snap-on water bowl that attaches to most retractable leashes. He’s trying to get funding on Kickstarter and he needs your help!

For a $5 pledge, you’ll get a Ruff Bowl once they’re manufactured, for $10 you get two. For higher amounts there are even more perks, so head over the Kickstarter and check it out.

Check out the details and more pictures below, and be sure to follow the project on Twitter (@Ruff_Bowl), Facebook, and on their website:

A few words from Sammy:

Ruff Bowl is the convenient way to have a travel water bowl while at the same time having a hands-free way of carrying your dog’s used poop bags. These two features are very handy when hiking, at the dog park and even just walking around the neighborhood. And the best part is that it conveniently clips onto most large retractable leashes. Ruff Bowl will be available in blue, red, green and pink colors.

We enjoy hiking with our dogs but get annoyed with the bulky and inconvenient travel dog bowls that are currently sold in pet stores. Most are heavy, hard to carry, cumbersome and waste water. This is why we created Ruff Bowl. Our goal was to create something convenient, simple and well designed.

So why did we start a Kickstarter campaign? We REALLY need YOUR help! Manufacturing any product is expensive and injection molding is REALLY expensive. In order to manufacture the Ruff Bowl with the highest quality we need a little Kickstart to turn our little project into a reality.

Ruff Bowl was born out of necessity and it is the product of two dog lovers: Nicole and Sammy Lopez. We put a lot of thought and energy into making the Ruff Bowl and we hope dog lovers all over the world enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.
