Is vandalization of yard signs fair & balanced?

Vandalized Obama Yard Sign

In the past couple weeks, I’ve noticed several Obama signs that have been vandalized. The first was in my yard in Plaza Midwood, where my roommate came home to find our sign crushed and badly bruised. I later saw a handmade sign that stated, “To whoever stole the Obama sign out of my yard, I have made a $100 donation to his campaign in your honor.” And just today on a walk around the neighborhood, I took a photo of yet another Obama sign vandalized.

Is this happening across Charlotte? Has anyone noticed if both Obama and McCain signs are being messed with? Is this vandalism a reflection of the anger toward Obama being generated by the McCain campaign?

I don’t know if it was in Charlotte, but my husband told me that someone had their sign stolen and in retaliation, she spray painted the Obama O on her grass. Don’t guess anyone will be stealing that ;)

I’m not sure what this is indicative of… I’m a little afraid of what will happen after election day if people are acting so childish over signs.

On the news a few days ago I heard that some supporters actually take their signs in every night and then put them back out in the yard in the morning when they go to get the paper. It’s pretty sad… and pathetic. They said that one Obama supporter had already replaced her sign nearly a hundred times (I may be off on that a bit — but it was an absurdly high number). They did show a couple McCain supporters complaining of stolen signs too…

We really are mature, aren’t we!?

While I have a definate opinion on who should be the next president of the United States, vandalizing yard signs is beneath me. Personally, I feel that those who think they must so something like this probably aren’t old enough to vote anyway. We all have our opinions and are entitled to them. Just remember this, they are ALL crooks. Candidates and vandals alike.

There were at least three signs stolen on our street — possibly more. They’ve been replaced, but we’ve only seen Dem signs stolen here. My landlord has been driving past my house a couple times a week to make sure his yard signs (my house is restored with apartments, and he puts signs in the yard) haven’t disappeared.

It’s really sad. What’s the point?
