After finding a bit of stability at Moore Place, William Major, AKA the infamous Chilly Willy, was struck and killed in front of Jackalope Jack’s on E. 7th St. this past Thursday night.
The driver is not currently facing charges, investigators at the scene said. There was a dent in the hood of her four-door sedan and the passenger side of her windshield was shattered.
After hearing that the victim was “Chilly Willy,” several bystanders stopped to ask police how he was doing. Police later said that the pedestrian had died.
Joe Hinson was sitting on the patio at Jackalope Jack’s, one of several bars and restaurants in the area, with his back to the road when he heard the crash behind him.
When he turned around he said he saw William Major on the ground.
Hinson said Major had been walking up and down the sidewalk earlier in the evening. Hinson said a manager at the bar had told Major to be careful.
Rest in peace dude.
