Festival in the Park returns to Freedom Park on Friday, September 21st, through Sunday, September 23th, 2012. This popular festival, in its 48th year, has grown to include more than 1,000 entertainers on several stages.

The UNC Charlotte Center City building often referred to as “The Stack of Books,” will come alive on Saturday September 22, 2012! National Poetry Slam Master Boris Rogers, a UNC Charlotte Alumnus, will emcee this interactive afternoon. The UNC Charlotte Center City Community Day Celebration will include the UNC Charlotte mascot NORM The NINER, local DJ’s, the band VESS, La Raza radio station, B-boy exhibition(s), Art, Cutting Edge Performances, Cultural and Departmental demonstration stations. New this year will be a ‘Center City Scavenger Hunt’ that will take participants throughout the eleven floors to experience the new Lona– Frey art collection, as well as, the premiere of the Center City Piñata’!

“Something familiar, something peculiar, something for everyone: a comedy tonight!” Broadway’s greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written. A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville.
