Charlotte Bureau of Awesome to offer delegate concierge service

Welcome to the DNC, mofos.
Such is the welcoming mantra of the QC’s smallest and perhaps oddest convention hosts.
As if the real show wasn’t insane enough two Charlotte area film makers with way too much time on their hands have created the Charlotte Bureau of Awesome, enlisted the support of a wannabe NASCAR Driver and a well healed transplanted northern banker with the explicit plan of snagging their very own DNC delegate upon whom they will extol the virtues of this year’s host city and biggest dog and pony show north of Tampa.
It all debuts here http://www.welcometothednc.com/ next Wednesday while the pomp and circumstance are in full swing. Friends StockCar Johnson (Jason King) and QC Banks (Jarrett Tolman) are fledgling filmmakers with a satirical bend.
“It started over late night conversation and drinks at the Philosophers Stone,” said King. “We had made a few humorous shorts and were looking for a way to take advantage of the DNC. Southerners are always going on and on how great Charlotte is so we came up with the idea of the Bureau of Awesome and the notion of marketing concierge service to northern delegates. It really spun out of control when we actually obtained the welcometothednc.com URL, it was like whoa, we have to do something with it now.”
The pair were soon joined on the project by Charlotte Cover girl, Shannon Dawn Rauch, aka Miss Demi, who stars as the delegate from “up north.”
“We’re doing it strictly for fun and whatever recognition comes with it,” said King, whose day job is bartender/server at an Uptown steakhouse.
Charlotte’s most awesome attributes according to these guys?
- Our streets look like they are brand new, because they are brand new.
- Location. One tank of gas can take you to the mountains, Atlanta, the beach, or in StockCar’s case, jail in Conway SC.
- The food. From stuff on Central Ave, we can’t pronounce, stuff on Tryon Street only QC Banks can afford, to the top of the food pyramid, Fried Chicken and BBQ.
- In one weekend you can go whitewater rafting, to a NASCAR race, an NFL game, and double back for a Segway or Pedicab tour. (Segways scare StockCar Johnson)
King said the character of Johnson is somewhat biographical in that he is third generation Charlottean. His biggest claim to fame is that he was rescued by Dale Earnhardt’s pit crew from a locked car when he was an infant.
It doesn’t get more Charlotte than that.
this is a great vid lol
These guys are funny, doing big things around town! Charlottes Got The Funny!!!
Talent bubbling up! Keep it going.
