When #DNC2012 guests have questions, @CLTAnswers

Posted on 2 Aug 2012 by Brian Francis

Last fall, I asked the Charlotte twittersphere to tell Fernando Aguirre, aka @fdoaguirreceo, why you were #bananas4CLT and why Chiquita should relocate to this Queen City. Your passion for our city was obvious, and the skyline indicates your advocacy was well received. It is time to put your passion and knowledge of Charlotte to use once again.

In just over one month, Charlotte greets the world as the Democratic National Convention comes to town. I suspect those visitors will have questions. Where can I find a great cup of coffee at 5 AM? Where can I buy a replacement shoelace near Time Warner Arena? I have 2 hours of free time; how should I spend it?

My proposal: when our visitors ask, @CLTanswers.

My hypothesis: There is not a question about Charlotte that Twitter can’t answer. We just need to connect those with the Questions to those with the Answers. We will use the hashtag #CLTFAQ to make the connection.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Follow @CLTAnswers . This is how we’ll know that you are committed to help.
  2. Follow the hashtag #CLTFAQ. This is how you’ll know what questions to answer.
  3. Tell anyone you know who is coming to the DNC that we are here to help; they just need to tweet their question to #CLTFAQ
  4. Answer our guests’ questions as best you can.

We need your help! This is not a project of the DNC host committee or any other organization.  It is our project. This is an effort of those of us who love Charlotte to make sure our guests have the best experience here that they can. I hope you will help.

I have a one bedroom apartment in uptown Charlotte one 1/2 block from the convention center, access to the light rail and the Gold Rush shuttle bus. I also have a two bedroom condo in South Charlotte Quail Hollow community for rent that week also. Who do I need to contact and let them know of these availabilities.
