This Week on A Healthier Charlotte: The Naked Face Project
Posted on 28 Mar 2012 by Bobby DeMuro
AHC is produced bi-weekly at WTVI, and airs every other Tuesday.
A movement started by Molly Barker and Caitlin Boyle, The Naked Face Project began as a challenge between the two women to go 60 days without make-up, primping, or other beauty needs to better understand the cultural expectations surrounding beauty and gender in America.
We had a fascinating discussion about all of that, and more, on the show this week, surrounding beauty, culture, and the expectations placed upon young men and women to fit in.
Our guests this week on the show:
Molly Barker, Founder, The Naked Face Project
Dr. Amy Combs, Licensed Psychologist, Charlotte Center for Balanced Living
Kelly Finley, MA, Women’s and Gender Studies, University of North Carolina, Charlotte
Plus, a brand new segment from Kelly Davis of Foodie Fresh — she’s showing us simple, easy, and healthy meals from home for those times when you just don’t have enough time to make something complicated!
What about you at home? Do you feel the pull of cultural expectations surrounding beauty standards? How does our society and culture play in to how you present yourself, or hide your flaws?
