On Wednesday, February 15th, solvethepuzzlecharlotte.org was unveiled at the Main Library in front of 60+ of Charlotte’s leading homelessness advocates and various media. The website was inspired by “More Than Shelter! Charlotte Mecklenburg’s 10-Year Plan to End And Prevent Homelessness — One Person/One Family At A Time.” The idea is to get homeless people off the streets, out of shelters and into permanent housing, along with the essential social services to keep them there. In 2006, the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County published this plan and later created the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Coalition for Housing to implement it.
At the premier of the “Souls of Our Neighbors” documentary on January 3rd, Mayor Foxx proclaimed 2012 to be the “Year of Our Neighbors.” Ask yourself how you can help solve the puzzle of homelessness?
