UNC Charlotte’s Center City Building
Posted on 20 Mar 2009 by Tim Ernst
UNC Charlotte released the design of their new Center City Building. The 12 story, 143,000 square foot building was designed by world renowned architectural firm Kieran Timberlake, whose client list includes institutions like Yale, Cornell, and Princeton. The building will primarily be used for Charlotte’s MBA program as well as classes in health services and architecture that have special significance to urban areas.
The space also has a strong commitment to public access that includes a cafe, art gallery, 300 seat public auditorium, and a 110 seat public lecture hall. UNC Charlotte is working with the city and county to create a First Ward park that will span from the campus to ImagineOn.
The LEED Certified Silver building is scheduled to open in the fall of 2011.
