Yesterday, the Beastie Boys stopped by the UNC Charlotte campus to give a small impromptu rally for Obama at McKnight Hall. Later last night they gave a sold-out concert at Amos’s.
While the Beastie Boys didn’t give any performance at the university, their PR still wouldn’t let large cameras be present in the hall while they were onstage. Point-and-shoot and camera phones weren’t prohibited though, so while everyone was snapping and recording like mad, myself and a girl from News14 had to sit out.
I did get some cool footage of them coming out the back though, walking through the early voting line to their van. Afterwards I got in line to vote and interviewed some people waiting with me.
Next time I’ll know to carry a small camera with me for situations like this. I’m working on getting some video from students who lucked out, and will post it here if possible.
