President expected to stay at Hyatt Place Charlotte-Uptown during the DNC

The developers of SKYE Condominiums, formerly known as the Park, have signed an agreement to complete a 172-room hotel for Hyatt Hotels Corporation. The Hyatt Place Charlotte-Uptown will be located Caldwell and Third, barely two blocks away from Time Warner Cable Arena.
So why will the President be choosing this as his base of operations?
Take his long-standing relationship with the owners of Hyatt Hotels, the Chicago-based Pritzker family. Penny Pritzker was the National Finance Chair of the Barack Obama for President campaign and co-chair of the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee, and she currently serves on the President’s Council for Jobs and Competitiveness.
Obviously, the site’s proximity to the arena and its easy access to I-277 (and therefore the airport) make it very appealing. But the opportunity to add Presidential cache to a new Hyatt Hotel property sure can’t hurt.
As they say, “all politics is local”.
