This was not the night we had planned, but I accept the voters’ conclusions from North Carolina.”

Last night was a first for Mayor Pat McCrory, the first time he had to make a concession speech. The speech was quick and and filled with many thanks to all of his campaign staff. McCrory prided himself on running a positive campaign and said this was a very memorable part of his life.

Emotions filled the room after McCrory spoke and as he went around the room thanking supporters. People were discussing what happened and how the election turned out the way it did. I overheard one campaign worker say, “Obama got us.”

The election for mayor of Charlotte is in a year. McCrory said he has made his choice about running, but declined to say what that choice is.

Poor guy, I’m really disappointed he lost.
