Criminals picked the wrong Pizza Hut to rob in east Charlotte, shot dead by employee
Posted on 28 Sep 2010 by Justin Ruckman
“The robbery was reported about 11:15 p.m. at the Pizza Hut in the 5400 block of East Independence Boulevard, near Idlewild Road. Police say two employees were in the rear of the restaurant, cleaning up for the night, when three men walked in the front door. The employees told police at least two of the suspects were carrying handguns.
The suspects ordered the two employees into the cooler, and for some reason, at least one of the suspects began beating a Pizza Hut employee.
CMPD Sgt. Gerard Farley said the other employee pulled out his own handgun and began shooting.
When police and paramedics arrived, they found two suspects on the floor, shot to death. The other suspect had run off. One investigator said early Monday morning that it is possible the third suspect was wounded by the employee.”
I’ll make sure to rob other pizza places next time.
Now they’ll get fired for carrying a gun.
We need more people carrying guns legally.
It’s North Carolina… Open carry is legal and we have a shall-issue conceal law, so he should be fine, unless it is against company policy. I’m sure he more than grateful for saving his & his colleagues’ life than having a life-long career at Pizza Hut.
Well, it is against company policy and that sucks. I understand the reason why companies have policies like this; to cover their own (and their employees) arse should something like this occur. That doesn’t make it feel any better, cause this guy did what he had to for the safety of himself and his co-workers, and he will most likely pay for it with his job if not some legal charges.
Heck, that young man should be labeled a hero.It goes both ways,if you think you have a right to rob and beat on people then you better be prepared for the victims to have their own balls to defend themselves. In today’s world its survival of the fittest. Until we can all just stop the entitlement mentality and the hating of others, then this is what it has come down to.What a legacy we are leaving our children..
I’m all for self-defense, and I hope to goodness the PH employee doesn’t get fired for having a weapon on-hand at work because of this. I delivered for Domino’s years ago, and I know we were told having a pistol (or any firearm) was a firing offense, no questions asked. The cops are spread so thin, and there are so damn many people… It’s just nuts not to expect people at some point to start carrying pistols to defend themselves.
It’s too bad those two criminals got dead, but really, it’s not like they weren’t asking for it just a bit.
I know how hard it is to get a job these days, but I carry mine with the proper permit because I feel my life is worth more than my job. And I work at a hotel who’s owners think it is unwelcoming to lock the doors after dark, sot hey took the locks off the doors.
Was that considered a “to go” order, or “special delivery”?
to go, because they arrived at the business for a pick-up.
all death is never an easy subject;
did this guy follow the seven d.s?
seven suggestions how to live 100

Sometimes when they rob you they kill you, and one of the employees was already being beaten. Are we going to assume that the violent robbers respect human life, in a situation like that you want to survive, you don’t know what the end result is going to be, especially when someone else has appointed themself the determiner of your fate.
The bad thing is if you have a gun, you are more likely to use one when there is a confrontation or a situation like this. The finger pulls the trigger, but the trigger also pulls the finger.
